Heswall

Located on the Wirral peninsula as it is, the town of Heswall was, until the creation of Merseyside as a county in the early 70's, in the county of Cheshire. The town is a veritable oasis of nature with no less than four parks and three conservation areas within it's bounds, making it a haven for both flora and fauna. Birdwatchers are often to be seen looking for sandpipers and the like on the banks of the river Dee. The area all along the north-west coast is also a Mecca for the budding golfer with many junior and senior golf clubs located in Heswall. The town has a few famous ex-residents to boast about: England cricket hero and charity walker, Ian "Beefy" Botham, was born here; and Radio 1's iconic DJ and discoverer of new musical talent, the late John Peel, hales from the area too.
